The first thing we always ask is "how do you plan to use the board?" when customers want to know which style is best for them. Usage is very important in our design and should be an important aspect of the purchase. There are different characteristics in each the Face Grain, the Edge Grain and the End Grain of the wood that makes it better for certain types of boards.
These are serving boards, perfect for your next party. They are usually face or edge grain boards making them very beautiful, but also more sensitive to changes in humidity or knife marks. The face and edge grains of the wood fibres are not able to repair themselves, and so the boards will show use much sooner.
Approx price range from $55 - $95 depending on wood types, pattern and over-all size.

Our most versatile boards and complex patterns are found in our end grain cutting boards. We choose to use the end grain for all of these boards to ensure a long-lasting quality that can withstand most regular use. The end grain of the wood has the ability to somewhat "heal" itself similar to the way a dartboard can. Cutting and flipping the grain also allows for the intricate patters you see in a Jack & Jill Cutting Board.
Approx price range from $85 - $120 depending on wood types, pattern and over-all size.
These are our most heavy-duty boards. Always end grain, they are also typically less intricate patterns only because of their thickness. The Butcher Block line at Jack & Jill tends to be between 2.5 and 3 inches thick with grooves in the sides for handles.
Approx price range from $120 - $160 depending on wood types, pattern and over-all size.
